We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Cardiologist with subspecialty expertise in devices heart failure to join our progressive and collaborative Cardiology team at Musgrove Park Hospital, part of Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. You will become part of a dynamic department of 15 consultant cardiologists delivering high-quality care across Somerset, supported by state-of-the-art facilities and a strong multidisciplinary team. This role offers a fantastic mix of clinical work including ward rounds, general cardiology clinics, and subspecialty sessions, with flexibility to shape your job plan around your interests. Our department boasts three advanced catheter labs, a 9-bed CCU, comprehensive imaging services (echo, CT, MRI), and a thriving pacing and devices service performing over 550 procedures annually. You will also have opportunities to contribute to teaching, research, and service development, supported by a responsive management team and a clinically led improvement network. Main duties of the job
* Provide specialist cardiology care including ward rounds, general clinics, and subspecialty device sessions.
* Contribute to weekend CCU ward round rota (no acute medical on-call).
* Undertake pacing lists (simple and complex devices) and support heart failure services.
* Participate in teaching, supervision of junior doctors, and undergraduate education.
* Engage in audit, clinical governance, and research activities.
* Develop subspecialty interests aligned with service needs.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
* Full GMC registration and entry on Specialist Register (or within 6 months of CCT).
* MRCP(UK) or equivalent; ALS provider.
Qualifications Desirable
* MD, PhD or equivalent; experience in research or service development.
Experience Essential
* Demonstrable commitment to cardiology with subspecialty interest in device implantation. Ability to take full responsibility for clinical diagnosis and care.
Experience Desirable
* Additional subspecialty interest in imaging or heart failure. Evidence of teaching and mentoring.
Additional Criteria Essential
* Strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
