This is an exciting opportunity to work at the University of Northampton as we expand our physiotherapy provision with the introduction of a BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy course and a BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy Degree Apprenticeship route. This will complement our already established MSc Physiotherapy (pre-registration) course.
We are seeking an academic who can demonstrate the ability and passion required to be a senior lecturer within the Physiotherapy academic team. A key role expected within this post is course leadership. You will have the ability to lead the implementation of quality learning and teaching across a course provision and be committed to ensuring a positive and inclusive student and staff experience.
In collaboration with other course leaders you will provide direction and clarity to members of the physiotherapy academic team to ensure a successful course in relation to key performance indicators. This includes, aiming to provide a clear, consistent and organised course environment that allows teaching staff to thrive within their posts.
You will have knowledge and lead on quality assurance processes and engagement with relevant stakeholders.
Support in this post will be given by the Head of School and the Deputy Head of School’s, which includes ensuring alignment of courses to the Faculty business plan and wider University strategy. There is also support through the course lead meeting structure, as we promote collaborative working.

About you
You will be a qualified Physiotherapist who is registered with the HCPC. You will have experience of working in higher education and be able to evidence the ability to provide high quality learning environments, as seen through fellowship status and/or student feedback.
You will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to lead a team of academics to deliver a high-quality student experience, while showing the ability to provide solutions to challenging situations while working within university policy and procedures. Evidencing the ability to work at a high standard while also leading and developing other staff members around you.
Your skills within learning and teaching will be clearly demonstrated through recent, successful module/course metrics and student voice feedback. The ability to synthesise this data and produce clear quality improvement plans in collaboration with deputy and head of school is key.
You will be able to demonstrate previous experience of engaging with external stakeholders/organisations that align to key aspects of course level quality assurance. For example, risk mitigation, professional statutory and regulatory body requirements, and placement/course capacity planning.
Qualifications
Essential;
* Degree qualification or equivalent in relevant subject area of Physiotherapy
* Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
* Professional Recognition as HEA Fellow (D2) or teaching qualification recognised by HESA, or evidence of a submitted pending application/evidence mapped to fellowship criteria
Desirable;
* Master’s degree in relevant subject
* Doctorate in relevant subject, completed or within 12 months of completion
Faculty
Physiotherapy will be located within the School of Health where it is joined by Occupational Therapy, Paramedic Science and Podiatry. It is an exciting time to join the University with the expansion of physiotherapy provision and routes into the profession.
