The Role
* Receive prescriptions and orders at the pharmacy dispensary from nurses, patients or portering staff.
* Dispense individual in‑patient, outpatient and discharge prescriptions, which may include cytotoxics, named‑patient medicines and controlled drugs following standard operating procedures.
* Receive and distribute all types of pharmaceutical products (including intravenous fluids, aseptic and cytotoxic preparations) into the pharmacy department from wholesalers and other hospitals.
* Receive / check medical gases and ensure appropriate storage.
* Deal with telephone and face‑to‑face enquiries or pass onto the most appropriate person.
What You'll Bring
* Scottish Vocational Qualification Pharmacy Services Level II or working towards it, or equivalent experience.
* Postholders with no previous experience treated in accordance with Annex 21 Arrangements for Pay and Banding of Trainees.
* Initial induction period of up to three months, followed by training and consolidation to achieve full competency within twelve months after induction.
* Capable of understanding and working within Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
