Assistant Practitioner, Band 4 / Trainee, Band 3 (During training period, until all criteria are met)
Within Perth & Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership we are expanding opportunities for Healthcare Support Workers to develop and progress into the role of Assistant Practitioner. These new roles are supported with education and training from the NHS Tayside Practice Development Team in partnership with UHI Perth or Dundee & Angus College. Successful applicants will be supported to complete a Professional Development Award in Acute & Community Care at SCQF Level 8. The training period lasts approximately one year, commencing September 2026.
As an Assistant Practitioner you will work within the four pillars of professional practice, ultimately holding your own case allocation and delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care. You will report directly to a Registered Nurse and will be responsible for supervising and supporting other healthcare practitioners and learners.
You must have a caring, professional manner, exhibit high academic ability and be able to work well in a high‑pressure environment. Adaptability to changing situations, excellent verbal and non‑verbal communication skills, the ability to motivate service users and the capacity to work without direct supervision are essential.
You are expected to complete the mandatory induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland and to comply with the Code of Conduct throughout your employment.
Hours of work are Monday to Sunday, 0800 to 2000 hrs. A variety of shifts, including weekends, will be required.
