Job Title: HR Advisor Location: John Thompson & Sons York Road Reporting to: Head of Human Resources Job Purpose: The HR Advisor will support the delivery of the organisations HR strategy and provide high-quality guidance to managers and employees. The role covers the full HR lifecycle, ensuring compliance with employment legislation and contributing to initiatives that enhance employee experience and organisational culture. Key responsibilities include managing end-to-end recruitment, overseeing effective onboarding, supporting employee relations matters, and enabling performance and development processes. The HR Advisor will also contribute to core HR projects such as cyber security awareness, GDPR compliance, diversity and inclusion, and ESG programmes. We are seeking a proactive, solutions-focused professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and delivers progressive, people-centred HR support. The successful candidate will bring curiosity, professionalism, and a collaborative approach to help shape a positive and engaging workplace. Key Accountabilities: - Deliver high-quality support across the full HR function, including employee relations, recruitment, performance, and HR project delivery. Maintain and enhance HR systems and databases, ensuring accurate data management, reporting, and analysis. Ensure compliance with company policies, employment legislation, and HR best practice. Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, from sourcing and selection through to offers and onboarding. Support the design and implementation of training and development initiatives. Coordinate employee appraisal processes, tracking outcomes and identifying development needs. Contribute to the development, review, and improvement of HR policies and procedures. Prepare and maintain accurate HR records and support the production of monthly HR reports. Provide clear, professional advice to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and best practice. Support the Head of HR with employee relations matters, including investigations and case management. Uphold strict confidentiality and data protection standards in all HR activities. Work collaboratively with the HR team to deliver initiatives that enhance employee experience, engagement, and retention. Assist in the development and delivery of HR-related training sessions. Support organisational cyber security and cyber engagement initiatives as part of wider HR responsibilities. Person Specification: - CIPD qualified (or working towards). 23+ years HR experience, ideally gained in a fast-paced manufacturing or production-led environment. Demonstrated ability to coach and support managers and employees effectively. Strong communication, organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Adaptable and collaborative, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Proven experience managing the full recruitment lifecycle and coordinating training and development activities. Solid understanding of current Northern Ireland employment legislation and HR best practice. Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain high standards of accuracy. Excellent interpersonal and team-working skills, with the confidence to build strong working relationships. Experience handling complex employee relations matters with professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality. Strong IT capability, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS platforms. Experience working within the manufacturing FMCG sector, with a strong understanding of its operational and people-related demands.
