Overview
Following major AMP8 framework wins and continued growth across UK water companies, Binnies (part of the RSK Group) is expanding its UK Water Services capability. We are seeking a Chartered Civil Engineer to provide technical leadership and lead our Birmingham-based civil engineering team. This role suits an experienced engineer who enjoys being a technical authority and subject matter expert, while also mentoring and developing engineers within a collaborative design environment. You'll play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, sustainable water and wastewater infrastructure solutions, while strengthening technical capability across the business.

What You'll Be Doing
* As a Principal Civil Design Engineer / Engineering Manager, you will: act as the civil engineering subject matter expert across multiple projects
* Lead and review complex designs, calculations, reports, and specifications
* Provide technical assurance and problem-solving support to project teams
* Be the first point of contact for civil engineering technical queries
* Support the development and application of standards, tools, and best practice
* Mentor and develop graduate, junior, and apprentice engineers
* Contribute to design reviews, risk management, and value engineering
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and clients
* Support cost, programme, and quality objectives through sound technical decision-making
Essential
* Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng) or equivalent experience, working towards chartership
* Proven experience delivering outline and detailed design in the water or wastewater sector
* Experience coordinating multidisciplinary and remote resources
* Strong technical judgement and clear, pragmatic communication
* A passion for mentoring and developing engineers
Desirable
* Experience across infra and non-infra water projects
* Familiarity with UK water industry design standards and assurance processes
* Experience coordinating overseas resources
* Involvement in technical communities or innovation initiatives
