Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a speech and language therapy assistant to join our Children's Therapy Service working in our Chorley South Ribble team. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and forward‑thinking assistant who already has experience working with children with communication difficulties and is looking for their next challenge. The Children's Therapy Service is a community service that is commissioned for ages 0‑19 and works across special and mainstream schools, clinics and nurseries providing a child‑centred service.
Responsibilities
* Deliver therapy programmes as directed by the therapist to children with additional and complex needs.
* Work collaboratively with speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and physiotherapy colleagues.
* Travel between different venues across the Chorley and South Ribble area, including clinics, nurseries, schools and children’s homes.
* Provide clinical and management supervision, specialist support by experienced senior staff, continuing professional development and specialist SLT forums.
* Contribute to the development of evidence‑based pathways covering the needs of children with communication and social needs.
Person Specification
Essential:
* NVQ 3 in a related health/education/care area or equivalent experience.
* Diploma level education in a related health/education/care area or equivalent knowledge.
* Good general education, including GCSE in English Language or equivalent.
* Working knowledge of key issues in additional and complex needs.
* Sound working knowledge of professional issues such as confidentiality.
* Good working knowledge of a wide range of therapy techniques relevant to the role.
* Extensive experience working with children with additional and complex needs in a therapeutic/educational environment.
* Experience delivering formal and informal training to carers.
* Self‑motivated with an interest in self‑development and able to contribute to the development of the service.
* Ability to respond to children’s needs and adapt intervention approaches effectively.
* Ability to work under supervision and independently.
* Current UK professional registration.
Salary & Working Pattern
Band 4 – £27,485 to £30,162 a year, pro rata. Permanent contract, part‑time working pattern.
