Overview

Alston Lane Catholic Primary School and Nursery is part of the Mater Ecclesiae Catholic MAT. We are a single form entry school with a record of high standards and high expectations. It is an excellent school for staff at all levels to develop professionally. We are a good school with outstanding religious provision.

Information

Due to the current Year 6 teacher starting maternity leave in November, we are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated teacher to work in Year 6 from approximately 24th November until the return of the post holder in July 2026. Please note that dates may vary if the maternity start date differs.

The successful candidate will have high expectations in all areas of school life and a passion for ensuring the highest possible outcomes for pupils. They will work within our Key Stage 2 team and benefit from rich professional development and support, relevant to the role. They will deliver a broad and balanced curriculum with the development of skills, knowledge and prior learning central to their teaching. Experience of leading KS2 SATs preparation would be a desirable attribute.

In our Catholic school, it is desirable for staff to have a strong personal faith, but essential for them to fully immerse themselves in the Catholic teaching of the school.

This position is not suitable for an early career teacher, as we require an experienced practitioner in this year group.

Further information about the school, such as inspection reports, can be found on the website. Please contact the office to arrange a tour of the school.

Application packs can be downloaded from the school’s website or the Lancashire teaching vacancy website.

The closing date for applications is 12 Noon on Wednesday 1st October 2025. Interviews will be held during the week beginning 13th October.

Applicants who have not been contacted by Friday 10th October can assume they have not been shortlisted for the post. Unfortunately, feedback on unsuccessful applications cannot be given.

Please note that in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2024, an online search will be carried out as part of our due diligence on shortlisted candidates.

The post you are applying for is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013).
