What You’ll Be Doing:
* Develop and Manage: System, product, and system-of-systems requirements with robust acceptance criteria that align with program needs.
* Create Documentation: Produce comprehensive design review documents, including diagrams, technical specifications, calculations, and justifications for design decisions.
* Support Design Certification: Prepare evidence and present complex technical arguments clearly and logically.
* Guide Suppliers: Derive detailed hardware and software requirements for control systems, assisting in equipment design and specification.
* Oversee Specifications: Manage functional design specifications and physical system interfaces, ensuring signal-level functionality through system databases.
* Ensure Compliance: Conduct design verification and generate evidence to meet IEC 61508/61511 or equivalent functional safety standards.
Your Skills and Experiences:
* Degree-qualified (BEng/MEng or equivalent), ideally working towards professional registration.
* Strong technical report writing skills with experience across the engineering lifecycle.
* Knowledge of defence standards is beneficial but not essential.
* Experience in system calculations, modelling, and analysis.
* Understanding of instrumentation and control theory (e.g., PID), control system architecture, or functional decomposition.
* Demonstrable ability to interpret and apply systems engineering principles in complex technical environments.

Join a highly skilled group of 16 engineers at the forefront of SSNA (Successor/Next-Generation Submarine) platform development. Our team shapes, matures, and validates the platform’s most critical control systems—ensuring the submarine’s core automated functions operate reliably and safely. This is your chance to play a direct role in defining the next generation of submarine control systems, technology that must perform flawlessly in the world’s most demanding conditions.
We also offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to eligibility criteria.
