About the Role:

As our Art and Photography Technician, you will be integral to the daily operations of our department, working closely with staff and students across all key stages. Your varied responsibilities will include preparing and organising a wide range of materials and equipment for art, design, ceramics, and photography lessons. You'll play a key part in maintaining our tools, darkroom, kilns, and studio spaces, ensuring they are always ready for creative exploration. This role also involves assisting students with their practical tasks and creative projects, managing stock levels, ordering supplies, and supporting the department's budget for materials. Crucially, you will ensure strict adherence to all health and safety protocols, including COSHH compliance and maintaining up-to-date risk assessments. Beyond the classroom, you'll help bring student creativity to life by assisting with College exhibitions, competitions, and our prestigious annual A Level show, including mounting and displaying work and preparing portfolios. You'll need confidence in solving practical or technical issues and providing effective support within classroom settings.

What We're Looking For:

We are seeking a proactive and adaptable team player with a positive, 'can-do' attitude. The ideal candidate will possess strong organisational skills and a genuine willingness to learn new techniques and processes. While experience or a keen interest in art, design, ceramics, or photography is desirable, it is not essential – we highly value enthusiasm, potential, and a commitment to supporting our students' creative journeys.

Working at Uckfield College:

Joining Uckfield College means becoming part of a vibrant, dedicated, and skilled team committed to achieving real excellence for our students. We foster a supportive environment for our staff and offer a wealth of benefits, including an enhanced pension scheme, extensive professional learning and development opportunities, and free on-site parking. Our commitment to staff well-being is reflected in initiatives such as staff breakfasts, free sports activities, and engaging social events. This is a fantastic chance to contribute to a thriving creative department and make a tangible difference in students' artistic journeys.

Required: As soon as possible

We reserve the right to invite candidates for interview prior to the closing date and to close vacancies early if we have sufficient suitable applications. Therefore, we encourage interested applicants to apply as soon as possible.
