Location

You will be a home‑based manager, attending the South East Hub in Horsham and the London Hub for meetings, and visits to National Society animal and wildlife centres and hospitals as required. You must have access to your own transport, hold a UK driving licence, and have business vehicle insurance. The role is based mainly in the South of England and Wales, with flexibility to attend sites further north (excluding Scotland).


Application Requirements

* Experience relevant to the role as outlined above.
* Membership of the IWFM Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management or a recognised facilities management accreditation organisation.
* Specific or transferable training, skills and qualifications that would enable you to undertake the role.
* Experience of working within a CAFM system and digitalised task management.
* Experience of managing, training and coaching others, working collaboratively with others as well as independently.
* Examples of specifying, tendering and contract management of facilities services contracts.

Interview Process

* 1st stage – Virtual panel interview with the Hiring Manager.
* 2nd stage – Face‑to‑face interview at the South East Hub.

* Central hub offices in London and Horsham

Key Responsibilities

* Deliver professional and efficient facilities management across Southern UK sites, serving as the primary point of contact for Centre Managers and maintenance staff.
* Champion health, safety and environmental best practices, ensuring 100% statutory compliance and effective contractor management.
* Oversee all planned preventive maintenance, reactive and emergency maintenance, equipment asset projects and M&E solutions.
* Provide dotted‑line management and support to on‑site maintenance staff and collaborate closely with Building Surveyors and the Head of Facilities.
* Source, tender, evaluate suppliers; manage performance through regular meetings and clear scopes of work to ensure cost‑effective, high‑quality outcomes.
* Support the management of the Society’s residential properties, maintaining condition, value and investment returns.
* Utilise and champion the CAFM system to track work in real time, digitise maintenance tasks and use data to drive continuous service improvement.
* Ensure all competency evidence, insurance, permits‑to‑work and compliance documentation are meticulously managed and stored.
* Plan and adapt travelling across England and Wales; hold a confident driving licence and business car insurance.
* Read technical drawings and perform extensive facilities management and statutory compliance tasks.


Key Qualifications

* Experience in facilities management and statutory compliance, including working with building plant and M&E equipment and ability to read technical drawings.
* Member of IWFM or another recognised facilities management professional body.
* Significant managerial background in FM roles, including recent supervisory responsibilities.
* Diplomatic collaborator with stakeholder management skills, balancing technical safety requirements with the needs of frontline animal care teams.
* Expertise in RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements), permits‑to‑work and ensuring contractor competency and insurance.
* Proven ability to scope, tender, mobilise and performance‑manage service contracts and KPIs.
* Proactive and calm under pressure, able to manage complex tasks, prioritise workloads and chase contractors to completion.
* Highly IT‑literate, with confidence using CAFM systems, email and online meeting platforms.
* Committed to continuous improvement, staying updated on safety legislation and driving innovation and efficiency.
* Willingness to act as designated Fire Warden and First Aider (training provided).
