Senior Quantity Surveyor – Reading – c£85,000 plus package plus SUBSISTENCE

Highly regarded Tier 1 Main Contractor urgently seek a Senior Quantity Surveyor for their busy site near Reading.
This role suits a candidate with Fit-out / Fitout / Refurbishment experience, ideally on projects around £30m in value, or a fitout scheme as part of a major project totalling around £30m per annum. The client will provide SUBSISTENCE in addition if you live more than an hour away.

The project is a £350m newbuild of science blocks, laboratories, secure storage units and large communal areas. This role will commercially manage the fitout of these blocks and will amount to around £30m of work per annum; the project has at least another 5 years to run.
Duties and responsibilities will include:
* Analytical Thinking & Decision Making
* Orders information and systematically checks data
* Cost Engineering
* Prepares Activity Schedules, Resource Schedules & analyses tender documents
* Estimating
* Critically appraises, estimates and negotiates the above with 3rd parties
* Planning
* Reviews complex contract programmes such as Time-Location
* Assists with the preparation of delay and disruption programmes
* Project Management
* Monitors subcontract activities, measure and respond appropriately
* Analyses the commercial progress and report to senior project staff
* Procurement
* Undertakes constructability analyses using construction programmes
* Prepares procurement programme and helps develop the strategy
* Commercial Management
* Analyses rates & prices, agreement of variations and/or compensation events as required
* Prepares, submits and negotiates claims when required
* Prepares Internal reports, commercial progress and financial reconciliation
* Development, Recruitment and Retention
* Maintains own Personal Development Plan
* Actively supports the development of others
* Produces plans for team to achieve goals / aspirations
* Supports recruitment of lower grades
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be degree qualified and a member of RICS, ICES or CIOB or be working towards it.
