Our client, a freight forwarder is looking for an Ocean Import Operator to join their office in Basildon. We are seeking an experienced Ocean Import Operator to manage and coordinate international ocean import shipments from origin to final delivery. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of freight forwarding operations, documentation, customs processes, and client communication. This role is critical in ensuring timely cargo movement, regulatory compliance, and excellent customer service. Job Role: Handle full-cycle ocean import shipments (FCL & LCL) Coordinate with overseas agents, steamship lines, truckers, and warehouses Prepare and process import documentation (Arrival Notices, ISF, B/L, Delivery Orders) Track and trace shipments from origin to final destination Arrange customs clearance and work closely with customs brokers Monitor and communicate shipment milestones to customers Resolve shipment delays, discrepancies, or documentation issues Ensure accurate billing, invoicing, and file profitability Maintain compliance with FMC and U.S. Customs regulations Qualifications 2 years of experience in ocean import freight forwarding Strong understanding of ocean documentation and Incoterms Experience working with steamship lines and NVOCCs Familiarity with U.S. Customs procedures and ISF filing Proficiency in freight forwarding software (CargoWise preferred) Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple shipments in a fast-paced environment
