The Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Process Engineer at Altek are:
Position Summary
The Process Engineer evaluates new and existing processes and configures manufacturing systems to reduce costs, improve sustainability, and develop best practices. This role involves working closely with manufacturing, management, purchasing, and customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing processes to improve safety, throughput, efficiencies, production yields, and costs.
* Provide hands-on technical leadership, including training employees in tooling, equipment, assembly documentation, and lean practices.
* Support Managers, Manufacturing, Test, Purchasing, Engineering, Process Documentation, and Materials departments as needed.
* Coordinate with departments on setting up or changing manufacturing processes for new or revised products.
* Establish standardized work, process flow, detailed procedures, and requirements to meet cost, quality, performance, and schedule goals.
* Develop, improve, and monitor tooling for prototypes and legacy products.
* Lead or contribute to continuous improvement projects.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing or electronics manufacturing.
* Experience with AS9100/ISO9001:2015 quality systems and IPC standards; ISO13485 experience is a plus.
* Proficiency in CAD software for tooling and fixture development.
* Ability to develop labor estimates for quoting.
* Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
* Motivated individual capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Computer Skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office.
* Experience with SolidWorks or CAD/CAM tools.
Education & Experience
* Post-secondary education (technical certification, associate, or bachelor’s degree) with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent experience.
* Proven record of process improvements and streamlining.
* Experience with tooling design, fixtures, jigs, or templates.
* Experience in high-demand contract or OEM manufacturing environments with electro-mechanical components.
* Experience leading quality improvement projects; Lean and Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.
Working Conditions
* Ability to lift materials and products up to 30 pounds.
