The role
This post is at the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow which is part of Women and Children’s Directorate, Acute Services Division. We require a highly motivated person with an NVQ level qualification and background in exercise and physical activity or experience working in a therapy unit to join our dynamic Physiotherapy Service. Experience of working with children is desirable. You will work within the Respiratory Team to develop and deliver therapy sessions as part of a rehabilitation programme for children and young people with a wide range of conditions. You will require enthusiasm and imagination in order to maximise the potential of sessions. You will be a team player with an ability to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills when working with children, young people and their families. You will also be required to do some Administration and ordering of supplies to support the Physiotherapy Service. This post requires a close working relationship with the wider multidisciplinary teams. The Acute Services Division is committed to offering all staff the opportunity to develop clinical skills and also offers appraisal, supervision and opportunities for Continuing Professional Development.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
This is a full‑time post working 36 hours per week on a fixed‑term basis for 9 months. Based at Royal Hospital for Children Glasgow, 1345 Govan Road, G51 4TF. The shift pattern is Monday to Friday. This post requires PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland check.
Key responsibilities
* Will have achieved a level of theoretical knowledge to core competency/skills level acquired through formal or training equivalent experience.
* Will have or will be required to achieve an understanding of specialised work procedures and practices.
* Use analytical and judgement skills to assess clinical/non‑clinical situations and decide on appropriate actions, e.g. modifying intervention depending on clinical presentation within parameters set by the physiotherapist.
* Will carry major responsibility for the delivery of therapy programmes as part of rehabilitation within the patient group.
* Will work in a variety of different clinical settings including critical care.
* Will implement physiotherapy programmes of care working single‑handedly in the hospital but with access to a physiotherapist at all times. Any changes to treatment protocols and patient progress are notified to the physiotherapist.
* As a member of the physiotherapy service will be required to respond to the needs of the service at other localities covered by the Division.
