Job overview

The main purpose of this post it to support the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) and the urology team in coordinating patients’ care with a diagnosis or suspected diagnosis of urological cancer during the diagnostics, treatment and surveillance.

This job is a great opportunity to anyone who is willing to progress and to take on new challenges to work alongside the expanding urology team in Buckinghamshire NHS Trust.

Main duties of the job

1. To work closely with the nursing and non-nursing team under direct supervision.
2. To provide an administrative support to the CNS and urology team.
3. To coordinate patients’ care on specific cancer pathways.
4. To support patients under the CNS and urology team.
5. To act as a point of contact for patients with pre and post cancer diagnosis.
6. Organising and contributing to the Holistic Needs Assessments.
7. To capture patients’ activity on relevant hospital electronic systems.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria

18. GCSE English Language and Mathematic or equivalent
19. Assistant Practitioner Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care or NVQ 4 equivalent
20. Undertaken the HCA course (The Cancer Journey Caring for the Cancer Patient and their Family) or willingness to undertake
21. Willingness to undertake Macmillan learning and development courses

Experience

Essential criteria

22. Relevant health or social care experience at AfC Band 3 or equivalent
23. Experience of multi-professional working
24. Evidence of good communications skills
25. Understanding of person-centred care
26. Understanding of the health and social care environment

Desirable criteria

27. Experience of coach/teaching patients and carers
28. Experience in coordinating a patient workload

PPE requirements: Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust requires all colleagues to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with our infection prevention and control procedures.
