Job Description

Location: Choice Care, Suite 16, Blackburn Enterprise Centre, Furthergate

Are you looking for a new challenge and a return to care work? Do you have experience of providing care to people and are looking for a way back into social and community care? Would you like to be trained to work in the care sector whilst being paid to train and gain nationally recognised qualifications?

Many of our carers have been with us for over 10 years and some over 20 years. One won Carer of the Year at the Great British Care Awards, so we must be doing something right. Our carers have regular work and hours that fit perfectly within their work‑life balance in the area. You will need to be available from 7am – 2pm and/or 4pm – 11pm and have the use of your own car.

At Choice Care, we provide the best possible care and support for those who need it – including people coming to the end of life, those with dementia, sensory impairment, physical difficulties, learning disabilities, Autism and many more – enabling our clients to live their own homes with dignity and enjoy the best possible quality of life.

We are a Preferred Provider for Blackburn with Darwen Council, Lancashire County Council, the NHS and Clinical Commissioning Group as well as private clients. We are a family business and have been providing care in the area for 26 years.

We prefer face‑to‑face training so with a starting hourly rate of £12.25 per hour, you will be trained in our training room by our nurse and experienced management team before starting work. Training continues with ongoing professional development in many care‑related topics.

If you have experience and/or an NVQ in Health & Social Care, your starting hourly rate will be £12.60 per hour. If you have an NVQ, your rate will increase to £13.00 per hour after your probationary period ends.

We look forward to meeting you at interview. We are an equal opportunity employer.

About the Company

Choice Care was founded in 1999 by Andrew and Fiona Key. With more than 70 years’ experience in the health and social care sector, they combine their backgrounds with a passion for delivering high‑quality home care services in Lancashire along the M65 corridor, bridging the gap between traditional home care and nursing.

We work closely with organisations such as East Lancashire Hospice, the Stroke Association, Dementia UK, Parkinson’s UK and the MS Society to share resources and keep staff up‑to‑date on the latest skills and training. Our team of dedicated carers are all vetted and trained to gain the qualifications they need to carve out a long‑term career in care.

Company Culture

We provide induction training and carers must reach the required level of knowledge in each subject area. They must also complete a number of shifts with a supervisor to ensure competency at following care plans and delivering the required level of care. New recruits will also be working on achieving their diploma/NVQ qualification in care, which takes between 6 and 9 months to complete.

Required Criteria

* Driver with use of own vehicle
* The right to work in the UK
* Available to work evenings

Desired Criteria

* Experience in care
