Job Description

As Corporate Security Senior Advisor, you’ll work in a small team responsible for providing assurance that we’re addressing our security risks and fostering a positive security culture. You will be a role model for security, promoting good behaviours and contributing to the protection of our people, data, information, and physical assets.
In this role, you will:
1. Help the Corporate Security Manager oversee and mitigate security risks
2. Provide leadership on assessing and managing security risks, including our retained responsibilities
3. Collaborate with risk owners across the organisation to understand, assess, and mitigate risks
4. Ensure assurance to the Senior Responsible Officer (SRO), EA Board, and Executive Directors
5. Partner with Defra group Security to implement security strategies, policies, and processes
6. Lead initiatives to improve our security culture through training, communications, and engagement
7. Facilitate governance meetings to oversee security decisions
8. Maintain networks with security professionals to stay informed on the latest developments

The team
You will be part of a small, welcoming team within the Corporate Management, Assurance, and Security team, dedicated to protecting and empowering the organisation. You will have access to professional security advice within the Defra group and collaborate with subject matter experts in the Environment Agency.
Experience/Skills Required
The external security landscape is complex and evolving. While you don’t need to be a security professional, you should possess:
* An understanding of broader influences on organisational security to facilitate continuous improvement
* Proven leadership skills to achieve outcomes, foster partnerships, influence, and inspire
* Ability to build effective partnerships with Defra and Environment Agency colleagues for joint risk management
* Experience working with senior stakeholders, managing multiple priorities and demands
* Experience in inspiring cultural change, stakeholder management, leading communications and engagement, and implementing business change (beneficial but not mandatory)
Additional Information
All new hires will undertake training and participate in incident response duties as needed. This is a hybrid role; you will be based at your nearest location in England, with the option to work from home. Some national travel will be required.
