Clinical Pharmacist – Adult Medicine & Planned Care
Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced, motivated, and dynamic clinical pharmacist with excellent communication and leadership skills to join our established clinical pharmacy team.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, deliver, develop and evaluate clinical pharmacy services within Adult Medicine
* Provide expert pharmaceutical care through the promotion of safe, appropriate and clinically effective use of drug therapy; identify and manage risks within medicine management; ensure compliance with all relevant medicine‑related legislation and policy.
* Manage allocated staff to ensure effective operation of day‑to‑day pharmacy services to the Adult Medicine division and deputise for the Medicine Lead Pharmacist when needed.
* Use local and national data to drive improvements in efficiencies and cost‑effective use of medicines.
* Advise senior and junior medical staff and nurses on medicines management issues.
* Support the Lead Pharmacist for Professional Development by developing all staff within the pharmacy department.
* Undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade as requested by the Chief Pharmacist.
* Participate in the provision of pharmacy on‑call emergency duty service (second on‑call).
Essential Qualifications and Experience
* Master’s degree in pharmacy or equivalent; registration with the GPhC; postgraduate clinical qualification (diploma/MSc Clinical Pharmacy).
* Experienced independent prescriber (post‑graduate clinical qualifications).
* Extensive post‑graduate hospital clinical pharmacy experience across a range of ward/clinical areas.
* Demonstrated experience working on consultant ward rounds and within multidisciplinary teams.
* Expert clinical knowledge of commonly prescribed medicines for medicines; good knowledge of NICE guidelines for common conditions.
* Knowledge of NHS arrangements, ICB, NICE, CQC, clinical governance and preparation of guidelines involving other healthcare professionals.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, honesty, trustworthiness, motivation, influencing and negotiating skills; strong time‑management, organisation and delegation skills.
Desirable
* Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, UKCPA or other Society.
* RPS faculty recognition or Advanced Pharmacist accreditation.
* Advanced Clinical Practitioner accreditation.
* Line management supervision experience.

Benefits & Remuneration
Band 8a – £55,690 to £62,682 per annum (pro‑rata). Permanent, full‑time, full‑time working pattern.
