Role Overview
This role is responsible for maintaining safety, legal, and compliance-related activities within a high-hazard environment. A key priority is to urgently improve the organisations alarm management model, ensuring critical steps are taken to protect against potential Major Accident Hazards (MAH) and to strengthen the implementation of the organisations Alarms Policy across operations.
The post holder will collaborate with management and technical specialists to devise and deliver an implementation plan, including upskilling existing staff to enable effective alarm management across the facility.
Key Responsibilities
* Work with subject matter experts across operations to further develop and implement alarm policies and procedures in line with Relevant Good Practice (RGP), ensuring alignment with alarm system design and management strategies that mitigate MAH risks.
* Guide the development of alarm systems that enable fault identification and support effective response actions.
* Contribute to the technical design, analysis, and assessment of alarm systems, including their ongoing monitoring and performance measurement.
* Develop processes to support alarm system training and awareness, including the design, production, and delivery of new training courses and materials.
* Provide guidance and support to trainee safety and engineering specialists.
* Draft and develop alarm policy, procedures, and guidance for adoption and ongoing use across the organisation.
Essential Experience and Skills
* Hands-on experience in the implementation and operation of alarm systems such as Trend, Vista, Schneider Systems (EcoStruxure), and Sauter Systems.
* Demonstrated ability to configure and manage alarm systems to ensure functionality and compliance.
* Previous experience working with alarm systems in a large, complex organisation.
* Strong collaboration skills to work alongside engineering teams on protocols, design, and system improvements.
Desirable Experience and Skills
* Familiarity with the principles of The Engineering Equipment and Materials Users Association (EEMUA) Publication 191.
* Background in programme management, with experience in coordinating complex technical initiatives.
* Electrical engineering knowledge or practical experience.
