The Children’s Society has been helping children and young people in this country for over 140 years. We run local services that support children when they are at their most vulnerable and in desperate need of help. We’re there for children, every step of the way.

This role sits within our children and families directorate, which works to provide immediate one-to-one and group support for children who urgently need support. Your role will be to help us maintain and develop innovative practice to support our work in our services around the country. May include evenings.

We are currently seeking an empathetic, enthusiastic, and proactive practitioner to join our dynamic and ambitious team. This role requires taking a child-led approach to delivering emotional wellbeing and mental health support to children and young people. The successful candidate will actively contribute to service development by generating ideas and supporting the team in planning awareness-raising events. As a front-facing member of the team, you will engage with the local community, deliver interventions in 1:1, small group, and large group settings, and build strong relationships with youth services, education staff, and other community stakeholders. The role also involves managing risk, adhering to safeguarding procedures, and balancing lone working with collaborative team engagement.

In order to be successful in this role, you must have:

1. Previous experience of working with children and young people in a supportive role
2. Be able to adapt working style to meet the needs of the service
3. The ability to work both independently and as part of a supportive team
4. Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload
5. A sound understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality practices
6. A proactive attitude to personal development and reflective practice

The Children’s Society runs over 100 local services that help thousands of young people who desperately need our support, and we campaign to get laws and policies changed to make children’s lives happier and safer.

Every day we’re changing the lives of children in this country for the better – and with your help, tomorrow we can be there for even more.
