Role Overview
We are seeking a Head of Collections Care within the Collections Management department, to lead our team of conservators, technicians and interns. As well as conservation and preservation, responsibilities include managing loans, exhibition support and disaster planning. This post has a key role to play in ensuring that the whole organisation supports the Library’s commitment to responsible stewardship. We are widening and diversifying our audiences and need to ensure that our approach to collections care evolves in parallel.
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will have a background of achievement in collections care and preservation within libraries, archives or the wider heritage sector. You will possess strong verbal and written communication skills and have experience of managing staff, budgets and projects. You will also demonstrate good interpersonal skills for teamwork and managing relationships with colleagues and visitors. The postholder will build external networks with professional peers, funders and donors, and will contribute to the profession through research, presentations and publications.
