Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer
Location: Hampshire – Office Based
Salary: £60,000 – £80,000 depending on experience
Future Build Recruitment are currently working with a growing energy and infrastructure contractor to recruit an experienced Electrical Design Engineer. This is a fantastic opportunity to take a lead role in the delivery of high-profile DNO and energy sector projects, providing technical leadership across all phases of electrical design.
The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality electrical designs from feasibility through to commissioning, ensuring full compliance with SSEN and other regulatory standards. This position would suit someone with a strong background in DNO systems who is looking to progress into a senior, project-leading role.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead electrical system design projects within the DNO and wider energy sectors.
* Produce detailed and compliant electrical designs across all project stages.
* Mentor and support junior engineers, particularly in jointing and technical operations.
* Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders to deliver aligned project outcomes.
* Oversee risk management, quality assurance, and health and safety compliance.
* Deliver technical input during construction, installation, and commissioning stages.
Requirements:
* Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
* Proven experience designing DNO electrical systems (HV/LV).
* Knowledge of SSEN standards and regulatory compliance.
* Competency in CAD software is preferred.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office.
* Expertise in:
- Primary substations (design, installation, commissioning)
- Switchgear, transformers, and plant equipment
- HV/LV cable installation, jointing, and termination
