Overview
Band 6 - Mental Health Practitioner (Mental Health Support Teams). Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) support children, young people and families connected with identified school settings. Each MHST collaborates with schools and other agencies to cover a population of up to 7,000 children and young people. The service aims to increase early access to support and preventative provision, and to develop a Whole School Approach (WSA) to emotional wellbeing and mental health within the classroom.
The vacancy primarily covers schools in the Tunbridge Wells area. The successful applicant will work closely with schools, CYP, families and staff to promote a whole school approach to mental wellbeing.

As part of the role, the post holder will deliver interventions within schools and colleges and hold an individual caseload. The post holder should have clinical experience working with Children & Young People experiencing emotional wellbeing and mental health difficulties and be expected to deliver CBT interventions for anxiety, low mood and behavioural problems, both individually and in groups. Supervisory responsibilities of junior colleagues are included, with opportunities to enrol on a supervisor’s course funded by the service where available.
Responsibilities
* Deliver interventions within schools and colleges and maintain an individual caseload.
* Work with Children & Young People, families and staff to support a Whole School Approach to mental wellbeing.
* Deliver CBT interventions for anxiety, low mood and behavioural problems (individual and group work).
* Provide informal training, CPD opportunities and robust supervision to support development of low intensity CBT skills and WSA delivery.
* Supervise junior colleagues and pursue supervisor training where appropriate to support EMHP and CWP junior colleagues.
* Engage in ongoing professional development and supervision to enhance clinical practice.
Qualifications and experience
* Graduate qualified health care professional (examples: Nurse, CWP, EMHP, Social Worker, IAPT CBT Therapist or OT).
* Experience working with Children & Young People with emotional wellbeing and mental health difficulties.
* Good knowledge and ability to apply CBT interventions.
* Confidence in working with Children/Young People and Education settings.
* Willingness to learn and develop clinical and supervisory skills.
* Aware of safeguarding and the role of a Mental Health professional.
* Enthusiasm to reduce stigma and promote understanding of mental health issues.
