We are excited to offer an excellent opportunity for a Prescriptions Administrator to join our friendly and supportive GP Surgery team in Worcester. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a positive, proactive approach to their work. As a key member of the prescriptions team, you will act as the central point of communication between GPs, Nurse Practitioners, other clinicians, Care Navigators, the Practice Manager, patients, local pharmacies, and the wider primary care team. Your role will be crucial in ensuring that repeat medication requests are processed efficiently and in accordance with the practice’s protocols. We are seeking a dedicated team player committed to delivering an outstanding service to our patients who is a highly organised, proactive individual, who can effectively prioritise their workload while collaborating within a busy, dynamic team environment.

The main place of work is at Haresfield Surgery. Occasional travel to the branch surgery in Kempsey may be required.
Job Description / Responsibilities
* Provide a high standard of service in processing prescription requests and act as a focal point of communication between clinicians, receptionists, practice staff, patients and local pharmacies, and other health care organisations to ensure repeat prescriptions are produced within practice protocols.
* Process all repeat medication requests sent in by patients, community pharmacies and nursing homes within 3 working days where possible.
* Add new medication appropriately in line with protocols, update dose instructions and quantities, and liaise with local pharmacists regarding queries.
* Liaise with patients and pharmacies regarding prescription queries and requests.
* Work with the practice medicines management teams, clinicians and other staff to resolve all medication‑related queries.
* Enter relevant patient information accurately onto EMIS.
* Investigate and resolve requests for non‑repeated medication.
* Monitor and process discontinuation of medications and make appropriate recommended changes.
* Liaise with hospital staff regarding discharge and clinic letters.
* Work flexibly to cover holidays and sickness absences.
* Support service improvement programmes and audit/monitoring of these programmes to improve patient safety.
* Check patient records for chronic disease and drug monitoring and arrange testing and reviews as appropriate.
* Use the Prescription Tracker to establish the status of electronic prescriptions.
* Assist the Medicines Optimisation Team with searches, data collection and letter production required for prescribing changes; identify patients suitable for electronic repeat dispensing and Medicines Use Reviews (MURs).
* Encourage patients to set up and use the NHS App for ordering prescriptions.
* Promote better use of medicines by improving patient information and attending relevant training events.
* Deal with requests to resynchronise medication and amend quantities as needed.
* Develop close working links with local community pharmacies.
* Arrange dossette trays on request.
* Workflow prescription requests from hospital letters on Docman.
* Access the practice appointments system to book medication reviews or other prescription‑related issues.
* Action all tasks received from doctors, clinicians and in‑house pharmacists.
* Constantly monitor the prescriptions email and act accordingly.
* Answer and man the prescription line Monday to Friday from 10 am‑2 pm.
* Arrange EOL drugs and ensure availability from the pharmacy or an alternative if necessary.
* During each prescription request, check outstanding bloods, Asthma or COPD reviews and annual HRT and Pill Checks.
* Monitor usage of all drugs to identify over‑ or under‑use, raising concerns to GP and safeguarding lead if necessary.
* Housekeeping patients medication, removing medicines no longer required and ensuring correct medications are on acute or repeat lists.
* For controlled drugs, process prescriptions in line with practice guidelines on instruction of the GP Lead.
* Undertake any other duties appropriate to the post as requested.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Essential: GCSE or equivalent (grade A‑C) including English and Maths.
* Desirable: Experience within a pharmacy.
