Workshop Engineer (Forklifts & Material Handling Equipment)
Location: Loughborough, Leicestershire
Salary: £15 - £18 per hour (DOE) | £31,200 - £37,440
Hours: Monday to Friday | 8:00am - 4:00pm | 40 hours per week - Overtime Available
Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Workshop Engineer to join their growing team in Loughborough. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to work within a well-established and supportive business, maintaining a modern fleet of forklift trucks and material handling equipment.
Responsibilities
* Service, repair and maintain forklift trucks and material handling equipment
* Carry out diagnostics across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems
* Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and breakdown repairs
* Conduct thorough examinations, including LOLER-style inspections
* Prepare equipment for hire and dispatch, ensuring high-quality standards
* Complete job sheets and service reports accurately
* Liaise with the parts department to ensure efficient turnaround of repairs
* Carry out in-house servicing, refurbishment and rebuild work
* Fault finding and repair on both internal combustion (IC) and electric trucks
* Support other engineers when required and contribute to team productivity
* Ensure all machines are workshop-ready for the hire fleet
* Work closely with the Service Manager to maintain workflow and output
Skills & Experience
* Background in forklift, plant, HGV or material handling industries
* Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding ability
* Good understanding of hydraulic systems
* Ability to work independently within a workshop environment
* Strong communication skills and attention to detail with paperwork
* A proactive and team-oriented approach
