Job Overview: As a Registered General Nurse (RGN) in a care home, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, person-centered care to residents. You will use your clinical expertise to assess, plan, and implement care while ensuring the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of every resident. Key Roles & Responsibilities: 1. Clinical Care: Deliver and oversee safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care. Administer medications and treatments accurately in line with NMC and care home guidelines. Monitor residents health, record observations, and respond promptly to changes in condition. Create and update person-centered care plans and risk assessments. Manage wound care, catheter care, PEG feeding, and other clinical procedures as needed. Maintain infection control standards and promote a safe clinical environment. 2. Leadership & Team Support: Supervise and support care assistants in daily care delivery. Delegate tasks appropriately while maintaining accountability. Provide mentoring and guidance to new or junior staff members. Lead by example, promoting teamwork and professionalism. 3. Resident Wellbeing: Ensure residents dignity, privacy, and independence are always respected. Build trusting relationships with residents and their families. Support emotional and social wellbeing through compassionate communication and engagement. Advocate for residents needs and preferences in all aspects of their care. 4. Communication & Documentation: Communicate effectively with residents, families, and multidisciplinary teams. Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation in accordance with NMC and CQC standards. Participate in handovers to ensure continuity of care. 5. Compliance & Professionalism: Adhere to the NMC Code of Conduct and maintain valid NMC registration. Follow all care home policies, safeguarding procedures, and CQC regulations. Participate in audits, quality reviews, and continuous professional development (CPD). Ensure confidentiality and data protection in all aspects of work. Requirements: Registered General Nurse (RGN) qualification with active NMC PIN. Previous experience in a care home or similar healthcare setting (preferred). Excellent clinical and communication skills. Compassionate, reliable, and committed to delivering high-quality care. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Desirable Skills: Experience with eMAR systems and digital record keeping. Knowledge of CQC standards and care home best practices. Leadership and mentoring experience.
