Specialist Physiotherapist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated and dynamic Physiotherapist with skills in the fields of respiratory and Neurology. The neurosurgery team is a large Multidisciplinary team incorporating acute neurosurgical and ENT/ Max fax surgery wards, general and neurosurgical critical care and delivers innovative and evidence based therapy to a wide range of complex neurological presentations.

We are looking for applicants who would like the opportunity to develop caseload management skills including complex cases within the field of respiratory and neurology including critical care, ENT/ max fax and acute neurology. The successful candidate would have supervision from the neurosurgical Clinical Specialist physiotherapist and the opportunity to work with other senior specialist clinicians.

There will be the opportunity to develop specialist knowledge in the range of interventions required to provide assessment and rehabilitation for patients within the Neurology Division.

This a permanent post. There may be opportunities for a secondment if required.


Main duties of the job

This post provides the opportunity to develop leadership skills and contribute to the development of the Physiotherapy Service within this area and be involved in ongoing service development for the whole team.

Candidates will need to demonstrate:

Extensive experience as a qualified therapist.

Post graduate experience; sufficient to acquire core competencies in Physiotherapy practice in Neurology and respiratory conditions.

The knowledge and skills to manage a complex Neurological caseload.

Effective Interpersonal, communication and team working skills

Experience of emergency on call.

The successful candidate will receive support, supervision and opportunities for Continuing Professional Development, working in an environment that facilitates team working and collaborative working.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* BSc in Physiotherapy or equivalent
* HCPC registration


Experience

* Post-registration NHS experience as a Physiotherapist.
* Post-registration knowledge and skill to manage a complex specialist caseload in the relevant clinical speciality applied for.
* Experience in emergency respiratory on call including weekend work (PT only)
* Clear demonstration of understanding of NHS admission/referral/rehabilitation pathways for respiratory patients
* Experience and skills in teaching and development of staff and students
* Clinical Governance or Health & Safety, link worker
* Member of special Interest Group
* Clinical Effectiveness course/Project

* Evidence of continuous personal & professional development
* Good post-registration theoretical and practical knowledge of therapy practice in chosen field
* Evidence-Based Practice
* Clinical Governance
* Competency in Physiotherapy clinical reasoning, processes & practices
