Maintenance Technician Surrey Permanent | Full-Time Salary: £29,120 - £31,512 per annum (dependent on experience) 40 Hours Per Week Monday to Friday Simply Education are working with a specialist education provider to recruit a proactive and skilled Maintenance Technician to support the ongoing maintenance, compliance and development of two school sites in Surrey. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional, caretaker, facilities technician or tradesperson looking for a varied role where they can make a real difference within an educational environment. You will play a key role in ensuring that school buildings, grounds and equipment are maintained to a high standard, helping to create a safe, secure and welcoming environment for both staff and students. The Role As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of multiple educational sites, working closely with the Premises and Compliance Manager to ensure all facilities remain safe, compliant and fully operational. Key responsibilities include: Carrying out reactive maintenance, repairs and refurbishment work across school buildings and grounds. Maintaining outdoor areas to a high standard. Completing routine Health & Safety compliance tasks, including fire alarm testing, legionella monitoring and associated record keeping. Supporting the delivery of planned preventative maintenance programmes. Assisting with site improvement and expansion projects. Ensuring compliance records are accurately maintained using the school's CAFM system. Supporting the implementation of health and safety procedures, fire safety protocols and business continuity plans. Liaising with contractors and external service providers where required. Identifying maintenance issues and proactively resolving them before they become larger problems. What We're Looking For We are seeking candidates who have: Previous experience within a maintenance, facilities, caretaking or building services role. Good practical knowledge of building maintenance, repairs and grounds maintenance. Understanding of Health & Safety legislation and compliance requirements. Experience carrying out routine compliance checks and maintenance tasks. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently. Good IT skills and confidence using digital maintenance systems. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with staff, contractors and visitors.
