The role
As a Site Operations Manager, you’ll take overall responsibility for the day‑to‑day delivery of aircraft operations at RAF Woodvale, ensuring engineering, maintenance, safety, flying operations and support services operate seamlessly to meet contractual and customer requirements.
Day-to-day, you’ll provide clear direction, manage operational performance and work closely with military and civilian stakeholders to ensure high standards of safety, service and compliance are maintained at all times. Your leadership will directly influence operational readiness, team performance and customer confidence, while offering you the opportunity to further develop your career in a high‑profile aviation environment.
1. Leading site operations, ensuring aircraft, engineering and support activities meet contractual and customer requirements
2. Managing and motivating onsite teams, providing clear leadership, direction and performance oversight
3. Engaging with key stakeholders, including military personnel and internal Babcock teams
4. Overseeing reporting and performance data, ensuring accurate operational and statistical reporting
5. Maintaining compliance with safety, regulatory and company procedures across all site activities
This role is full time, 40 hours per week and is based on site at RAF Woodvale.
Essential experience of the Site Operations Manager:
6. Proven experience leading teams in a regulated operational or aviation environment
7. Strong leadership capability, with confidence managing diverse, multi‑disciplinary teams
8. Excellent communication skills, able to engage effectively with customers and stakeholders
9. Demonstrable problem‑solving ability, using data and sound judgement to drive decisions
10. Strong planning and organisational skills, managing multiple priorities and deadlines
Qualifications for the Site Operations Manager:
11. Full UK driving licence
12. Human Factors qualification
13. Recognised Safety, Health, Environment or Fire qualification
14. Defence or aviation sector experience

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) security clearance for this role.
