About the Role
This is a structured industrial placement within a nuclear power station’s Emergency Preparedness team. You’ll support the design, coordination and delivery of critical emergency planning activities that help protect workers, the public, and the environment.
As part of a cross-functional safety team, you’ll:
* Assist with emergency training and simulations
* Help design and implement emergency response scenarios
* Liaise with external stakeholders, including emergency services
* Support communications planning and safety materials
* Take part in operational site visits and collaborate with engineering and compliance teams
This is an excellent fit for a student seeking practical experience in high-risk, safety-first environments where detail, planning, and regulatory standards are paramount.
Location
* On-site at a leading nuclear power station in Lancashire (Heysham 2)
* Full-time industrial placement (12 months)

Key Criteria / Must-Haves
To be eligible, you must:
* Be currently studying (or have already completed) an undergraduate or postgraduate degree with at least a predicted 2:2 in one of the following:
* Business
* Engineering
* Science (any discipline)
* Have strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills
* Be confident working in a regulated, safety-driven environment
* Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Demonstrate curiosity, collaboration and a willingness to learn
* Hold the legal right to work in the UK from the placement start date
Desirable:
* Basic understanding of nuclear reactor systems and emergency protocol
* Prior teamwork or project experience in high-stakes environments
