Role Overview
An exciting opportunity within the Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust to support the in‑house Legal Affairs Team, specializing in Employment Law. The closing date for applications is 30 June 2026.
You will provide legal advice and services to Trust staff on a wide range of matters, support the HR department with employment law issues, and assist in developing internal policies and processes related to human resources and workforce management.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional legal advice and representation to clients on employment law matters.
- Represent clients in formal negotiations, legal proceedings, courts, tribunals, and other venues, undertaking advocacy where appropriate.
- Take and maintain detailed and accurate minutes of meetings, hearings, tribunals, inquests, and case conferences.
- Draft advice and formal legal documentation, including correspondence, witness statements, instructions to counsel and experts, agreements, contracts, court documents, forms, and policies.
- Work autonomously with responsibility for the day‑to‑day management of your own caseload.
- Line‑manage and supervise junior qualified lawyers, pre‑qualified lawyers (paralegals, trainee solicitors) and support staff as required.
- Operate the legal case and document management systems, securely create, store, and share documents, and maintain key information such as dates and time records.
Qualifications
- Recognised legal qualification and current professional registration.
- Recent experience in employment and contracts law.
- Self‑motivated, enthusiastic, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and a desire to deliver high‑quality care and services.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage day‑to‑day systems, processes, and teams while handling personal workload.
