Job Description
Join a dynamic, innovative team leading the development of high-integrity software solutions in a mission-critical environment. As a Software Engineering Manager, you will drive the delivery of complex software projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure best practices, process improvement, and operational excellence. Your leadership will shape the development lifecycle, from planning to deployment, in a fast-paced and technically challenging setting.

On-site: 4–5 days per week

Clearance: Candidates must be willing and eligible to obtain SC clearance.
Key Responsibilities
* Define and tailor software development processes, creating and maintaining plans to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
* Lead Agile teams (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban) to maintain focus on milestones, budgets, and continuous improvement.
* Oversee process compliance, generating artefacts and metrics to meet quality and regulatory standards.
* Report work package performance to project managers, including budget analysis and risk mitigation.
* Mentor software engineers, fostering competence development and knowledge sharing within the team.
Qualifications
Required Skills
* 5–10 years’ experience leading software projects, preferably in real-time or embedded systems.
* Proficiency in Jira for backlog management and Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban).
* Technical appreciation of C++/C development in embedded environments (non-hands-on role).
* Awareness of cyber-security and safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508, DO-178C).
* Proven leadership and teamwork in multi-disciplinary engineering environments.
* Ability to mentor colleagues and influence software delivery and process improvements.
* Adaptability and problem-solving in fast-paced, complex settings.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent technical experience.
* Eligibility for UK Security Clearance (SC).
* Experience with IBM DOORS or similar requirements tracking tools.
* Knowledge of automated testing, static analysis, or containerisation tools.
* Familiarity with Linux infrastructure or scripting (Shell/Bash/Python).
