Job Description The Controllership Accountant role is a key role within the accounting and finance organisation and will work closely with the UK&I Head of External Reporting. As part of a dynamic team, you will support with the preparation of year end accounting and audit information for our UK & I legal entities, provide month end close support for our international holding company structure where needed, work with the UK&I Head of External Reporting to provide technical accounting advice across the region, and respond to technical accounting and audit related queries from our external auditors. Role responsibilities: · Providing timely and accurate technical accounting support to the Europe & India business, including assisting with the UK & I external audit process, preparing extended trial balances and statutory accounting notes, and responding to auditor queries across 32 audited companies and the AECOM international holding company structure. · Ensuring UK & I statutory financial statements are accurate, comply with local GAAP and legal regulations, and are filed in accordance with local timescales, including posting journal entries and supporting general ledger accounting for the month end close process. · Supporting the annual impairment assessment of investments in subsidiaries and assisting in the ongoing drive to reduce complexity and size of the legal entity structure by simplifying entities and liquidating legacy companies where possible. · Working with the offshore Global Business Services team to drive efficient production of statutory accounts using software, whilst promoting continual improvement in accounts production processes and quality. · Building strong relationships with internal and external finance colleagues, business partners, advisors, and key business leaders to support, optimise and manage financial structures in place to support the business. · Supporting the implementation of new UK/US GAAP accounting standards and corporate accounting policies across the Europe and India region in conjunction with the Global Accounting team. · Participating in special projects including corporate restructurings, significant transactions, bid submissions, and working with Tax, Treasury and legal to ensure compliance and optimisation of tax, treasury, and finance matters. · Supporting the internal audit process throughout the period to ensure a strong internal control environment that is compliant with public company requirements and AECOM policies.
