Job Opportunity: Skilled Chef in Stafford
Based in Stafford, we provide specialist dementia care for 59 residents, including Residential, Nursing & Respite care, from early diagnosis to end-of-life. We are seeking a skilled Chef to join our care home team, playing a key role in ensuring our residents enjoy high-quality, well-balanced meals daily.
1. Meal Preparation: Prepare, cook, and serve both hot and cold meals, ensuring they meet residents' dietary needs and preferences.
2. Menu Planning: Collaborate with the Head Chef to plan nutritious, balanced menus using fresh ingredients.
3. Kitchen Management: Oversee daily kitchen operations, manage food production within budget, and maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards.
4. Record Keeping: Keep accurate records of food supplies and monitor storage temperatures for food safety.
5. Stock Management: Manage stock rotation, assist with ordering supplies, check deliveries, and perform stock valuations.
6. Health & Safety: Uphold statutory health and safety standards, ensuring a safe environment.
7. Cleaning & Maintenance: Ensure proper cleaning and storage of crockery and equipment, and oversee overall cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas.
Qualifications & Skills
* City & Guilds 706 1 & 2 or equivalent culinary qualification (achieved or in progress).
* Ability to work effectively within a team.
* Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and understanding of food safety practices.
* Good communication skills to liaise with team members and understand residents’ dietary needs.
* Ability to work independently and take initiative, especially in the absence of the Head Chef.
Desired Experience
* Experience in preparing food for residents with specific needs.
* Experience in a care environment is beneficial but not essential.
