Teaching Assistant – Primary Education
Location: Torton, Kidderminster
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent, Term time only
Hours:40 hours per week, term time only. 8.30am start. Finishing at 5pm Mondays, 4.30pm Tues to Thurs and an early finish of 4pm on Fridays. 2.5 hours per week to carry out ongoing training and development / additional duties.
Annual Salary: £22, £24,103.93 actual salary(£ £13.49 per hour)
The role:
As a Teaching Assistant, your role will be to support the children with their learning and general wellbeing. With small class sizes of up to 8 students, you will have the opportunity to build strong, successful relationships and ensure every child has the best chance to reach their full potential in a caring and safe environment. Where necessary this may include supporting with care needs from time to time as well as positive behaviour management adopting a tailored approach to the individual child.
You will be expected to establish a warm, caring and supportive relationship with pupils in order to support them feeling safe and enabling them to enjoy and learn during their time at the School, and to promote and encourage independence and personal development in pupils and maintain high expectations of behaviour at all times.
You will support the class teacher and contribute to providing high quality, challenging and differentiated educational activities and experiences through supporting the teaching of a broad and balanced curriculum aiming at pupils achieving their full potential in all areas of learning
The Successful candidate:
* Holds a Level 2 award in Support work in schools and Level 2 SEND qualification
* GCSE Maths and English Level 2/C or above qualification is essential.
* Experience within an education setting
* Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
* Some experience of working with SEMH learners with complex needs and challenging behaviour in a school environment
* Commitment to the role, the desire to put the child first and treat them as an individual
* Be positive and creative in meeting pupils' needs
* Full clean driving licence
Eligibility criteria
* You must be 19+
* Have lived in the UK for the past 3 years
* Not currently in education
* Currently unemployed or in receipt of low wag (Under £25,750)
