Transport Planner - Fixed Term Contract
Location: Essex
Contract: Full-time, Fixed Term (with potential for extension)
Working Pattern: Hybrid - minimum 2 days per week on-site (fully remote considered on a case-by-case basis)
About the Role
Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Transport Planner to support the development and delivery of key transport strategies and projects, including the Council's statutory Local Transport Plan (LTP).
Key Responsibilities:
Support the development and consultation of transport policies, including the Local Transport Plan.
Undertake transport research using tools such as GIS, DfT toolkits, and other transport software packages.
Provide expert transport policy advice on planning applications, sustainable travel, and development.
Assist in managing the Multi-Modal Transport Model and contribute to procurement specifications and project tenders.
Analyse traffic data and undertake surveys to inform planning and strategy.
Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver strategic transport solutions.
What We're Looking For
A degree in a relevant subject and/or substantial experience in public sector transport planning.
Working towards chartered membership of CIHT, CILT, or RTPI.
Proficient in GIS, DfT toolkits, VISSIM, SATURN, and transport modelling software.
Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and large-scale development.
Strong understanding of Local Authority transport objectives and policies.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
