About the Role:
We are currently seeking a seasoned Procurement expert to join a dynamic team. With numerous projects in the pipeline, this role holds significant importance in facilitating the delivery of refurbishment projects, directly contributing to our organizational growth objectives.
Role Summary:
As a newly established role within our team, we are seeking an assertive Senior Buyer with a demonstrated track record in sub-contractor procurement within the UK social housing construction sector. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional negotiation, planning, and communication skills to effectively engage and onboard sub-contractors for ongoing and upcoming projects. This role necessitates the ability to thrive amidst tight deadlines and fluctuating workloads while maintaining composure under pressure. Based at our Hemel Hempstead office, you will frequently travel to our project sites to oversee the progress of sub-contractor activities.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Negotiate and secure sub-contract services for all projects within specified timelines and requirements, ensuring optimal value while upholding quality standards.
* Develop and implement a comprehensive sub-contract buying strategy encompassing detailed sub-contractor profiles, trade specifics, quotations, and relevant information.
* Ensure consistency in sub-contract procurement practices across all projects, irrespective of division or workstream.
* Provide pricing recommendations during the tendering phase based on thorough subcontractor procurement analysis.
* Participate in mobilization meetings to ensure alignment of sub-contractor procurement with contractual obligations.
* Monitor market trends and take proactive measures to position our organization as the contractor.
* Develop and adhere to a structured sub-contractor procurement schedule.
* Collaborate with commercial teams to optimize project value engineering initiatives.
* Maintain an up-to-date rolling work schedule to facilitate effective sub-contractor management.
Requirements:
* Minimum of 24 months continuous experience in supply chain/sub-contract procurement within the UK social housing construction sector.
* Capable of managing of spend in excess of £15m
* Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
* Strong organizational acumen, time-management abilities, and prioritization skills.
* Proactive demeanor with a knack for handling challenges calmly and professionally.
* Sound judgement and effective decision-making capabilities.
* Flexibility to accommodate travel requirements and work across diverse project environments.
* Possession of a valid UK driving license.
