Offer description

We are looking to recruit a Band 6 Occupational Therapist on a permanent basis for our AHP team within the Galloway Community Hospital, with reach to Rhins Home Team. The Occupational Therapy team provides not only inpatient rehabilitation but also community rehabilitation, either in the Occupational Therapy department or within people’s own homes.

You would be working within a well‑established and very welcoming service. The role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with a diverse range of professionals. Due to the ever‑changing health and social care climate, this post holder may be required in the future to work flexibly, including regular weekends, to provide a 6‑or‑7‑day per week service. There is also a requirement to travel to different workplaces in response to service developments and future needs. Interviews will be face‑to‑face as there will be a practical element to complete.

It is an exciting time to join our service as we are developing our frailty pathway within the acute and how this blends with the home teams approach. We have also recently developed an amputee repatriation pathway directly to the Galloway Community Hospital, which has been pivotal in allowing amputee rehab to happen closer to patients’ homes at an earlier stage.

A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. If a disability precludes holding a licence, consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.

Please contact: Sarah Downie, sarah.downie2@nhs.scot – Team Lead OT/PT inpatients/Community Rehab Wigtownshire, 01776 707746 / 07342074060.

As from 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata; however, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.

If you require a Work Visa, please check to see if you and the vacancy you are applying for are eligible by visiting the Home Office website: https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa
