Interim Principal Planning Policy OfficerLocation: Portsmouth (Hybrid – Tuesdays in office) Rate: £60 per hour (Umbrella) Contract: InterimAn excellent interim opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal Planning Policy Officer to play a key role in shaping the future development of a major UK city.You will take a leading role in the Local Plan examination process, contributing to the delivery of a long-term development strategy and representing the authority at hearings.Key Responsibilities
* Lead on key aspects of Local Plan preparation, review, and examination
* Represent the authority at examination hearings and planning forums
* Produce evidence, written representations, and policy documentation
* Undertake research and analysis to inform planning policy
* Respond to planning legislation, consultations, and policy changes
* Work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders
* Support and mentor junior planning staff
About YouYou will be an experienced planning professional with strong policy expertise and the ability to operate at a senior level.Essential:
* Degree in Town Planning or equivalent
* MRTPI qualified
* Strong experience in planning policy
* Local Plan examination experience
* Excellent analytical and communication skills
Experience in at least two of the following:
* Biodiversity and Green Infrastructure
* Habitat Regulations Assessment
* Climate Change
* Transport and Air Quality
* Infrastructure Delivery Planning
* Town Centres and Retail
