The Creative Blackpool Development Group, supported by Blackpool Grand Theatre wish to recruit a dynamic and innovative leader who will spearhead collaborative efforts, drive creative initiatives, and foster partnerships across Blackpool’s cultural sector.


Job Description

Over the past 3 years, the Creative Blackpool Delivery Group (CBDG) has been developing shared leadership for culture and place by leveraging the support, knowledge and capabilities of our cultural assets and cross sector partners to develop an ambitious vision for 2030 - that Blackpool will be recognised as the UK's Coastal Capital of Creativity.

This has involved:

Establishing a steering group of representatives from across the cultural sector of the town;

Undertaking work on a needs analysis;

Collecting case studies on good practice already going on with our communities;

Collaborating and undertaking wide consultation to produce a Blackpool Cultural Strategy led by the cultural sector.

Our next step on this journey is to deliver an exciting and ambitious programme of strategic and joined up activities that support the delivery of our strategy. We have now successfully secured £750k Arts Council England (ACE) Place Partnership funding for the programme to match cash investment and support in kind from a wide range of partners. Blackpool's cultural sector has a small number of leaders, so we wish to appoint a Partnership Director to lead and support the delivery of this programme over the next 2.5 years until autumn 2027. The Partnership Director role is funded through the ACE grant and is fundamental to how Creative Blackpool continues to develop its approach going forward. The role will focus on delivering specific strands of our programme of work set out in our ACE bid with support from key Sub-Groups made up of partners in the network.


Job Requirements

You will be an experienced project manager and collaborative cultural leader. You will embrace our values in your approach and be excited to work with and support us in delivering our vision and mission.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about Blackpool and the town's ability to realise our 2030 vision as the UK's Coastal Capital of Creativity. You will be confident in decision making, adept at managing competing priorities and multiple events with care and attention to detail. Strong leadership and a collaborative approach, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to anticipate challenges, plan for contingencies, and maintain smooth communications are essential. The ability to build and maintain relationships with trust and transparency are essential as you will be working with a wide range of stakeholders including a small team of core staff, organisations, freelancers, volunteers, funders, community members, local authority and business representatives.


Job Responsibilities

The Partnership Director will report on a day to day basis to the Chair of Creative Blackpool Delivery Group and Chief Executive of Blackpool Grand Theatre. From the outset, meetings will be scheduled for reporting purposes.

You will provide regular written updates and reports for the CBDG meetings as requested by the Chair. This is to include an overall review quarterly on how CBDG is performing against the outputs and outcomes set out in the ACE Place Partnership Programme National Lottery Project application. You will be expected to connect with other Place Partnership locations and disseminate peer group learning within and beyond Blackpool.

You will also support the development of evaluation frameworks, activity and plans to build from and fund the legacy of this work, delivering the 2030 vision of Blackpool as Coastal Capital of Creativity with local, regional, national and international partners.
