A vacancy has arisen for a FS, WO, MAcr or Flt Lt (Any Profession) to serve as Station Error Management System Co-Ordinator at RAF Valley on Full Time Reserve Service (Home Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 05 January 2026 (or earlier/later, subject to candidate status). The successful candidate will be responsible to the Head of Establishment via the Station Flight Safety Officer for: a. The effective operation, management, and administration of the RAF Aviation Error Management System (AEMS) for RAF Valley. b. They will be required to promote AEMS throughout RAF Valley and encourage personnel to report air safety occurrences including errors, hazards and near-misses, undertake trend analysis of report data and instigate and manage Occurrence Safety Investigations (OSI). c. They will be required to organise and manage Occurrence Safety Investigations (OSI) and in turn, convene and manage Occurrence Review Groups (ORG) advising members of an ORG on the RAF AEMS process and application of the RAF Just Culture Policy. The successful candidate will be required to administer arising safety recommendations and conduct peer reviews of OSI. d. The successful candidate will be required to communicate and promote ‘good practice’ to develop a consistent application of the RAF AEMS throughout RAF Valley. e. Additionally, candidates should have a good knowledge of human factors and error management, be computer literate with a good working knowledge of MS Word and Excel. f. It is essential that the candidate is well organised and possesses excellent interpersonal skills as close liaison with internal and external agencies is crucial to the success of Error Management. g. Applicants should also be able to work as a member of a small team while having the ability to work individually with minimum supervision on dedicated projects.
