General Duties
The Housing Assistant (HA) is responsible to the Housing Services Manager (HSM) and the Housing Officer (HO) for housing management functions within the Housing Services department, including:

1. Take on duties as the Housing Assistant for a designated patch of housing stock and tenants, and assist the HO/HSM.
2. Assist in reviewing policies and ensure they are followed correctly.
3. Assist in reviewing relevant procedures and ensure compliance.
4. Supervise clerical staff as part of the team.
5. Maintain relevant information and housing systems in line with data protection legislation and CHA policies.
6. Participate in training and development programs to keep skills updated.
7. Assist in staff training within knowledge base and capabilities.


Specific Areas of Responsibility

1. Allocations, void properties, and Lettings: Assist in applying and operating void, allocations, and lettings processes efficiently and in line with policies. Ensure data accuracy and liaise with other agencies.
2. Estate Management & Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB): Assist in estate management and ASB functions, liaise with agencies, and provide advice to customers.
3. Rent Collection, Rent Setting, and Rent Arrears Management: Monitor rent arrears, liaise with agencies, take rent payments, and assist with refunds and rent postings.
4. Liaison with External Agencies: Support communication with partners and agencies.
5. Tenant Participation: Promote tenant participation and consult tenants on policies.
6. Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service in all duties.
7. Policy and Role Effectiveness: Keep knowledge of legislation and policies up to date, promote equal opportunities, and ensure compliance.
8. Community Engagement & Tenancy Sustainment: Promote community projects and refer tenants accordingly.
9. Welfare Rights: Refer tenants to welfare projects as needed.
10. Wellbeing: Promote wellbeing of customers and colleagues.
11. Teamwork: Work collaboratively and provide cover as needed.
12. Any other relevant duties as instructed.
