Position Description Summary Reporting to the Site Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for maximizing the performance and daily activities of supervisors. He/she will provide leadership, motivation, training, and development of the workforce. Principal Accountabilities Customer•Establishes, maintains and promotes high standards of customer service
1. Achievement of operational performance as defined by customer contract, and metrics.
2. Executes daily customer/vendor contract requirement and identifies accessorial activity and ensures necessary documentation.
3. Provides professional environment with relation to external customers such as drivers, dispatchers, customer representatives.
Associate
4. Provides a safe, secure, clean and fair work environment for associates
5. Provides for Supervisors performance reviews, development and/or succession planning as appropriate
6. Takes an active role in site workload planning and volume forecasting ( staffing, equipment, space)
7. Organizes and leads the focus on improved productivity levels in a manner that first stresses effectiveness by improving processes and secondly stresses efficiency of the associate work.
8. Ensures the associates have proper access to the necessary tools to perform their assigned duties and that the tools are routinely inspected and cared for ( MHE, Scanners, printers, PC)
9. Advises Site Manager of any deviations from work plans either customer designed or site initiated.
10. Coordination of work flow across all shifts to gain maximum efficiency.
11. Identifies areas of improvement or opportunity within operations/shifts.
12. Ensures all shifts are working for the common benefit of the business.
13. Identifies and develops training needs and programs for floor associates with Supervisors.
14. Participates in safety committee and ensures compliance within the shifts.
15. Participates and ensure compliance with internal audits.
16. At unionized sites only develops relationships with union reps at floor level and guides group to team environment.
17. Provides full back up and support for customer when Site Manger is off site or on vacation.
18. Assists in the management of cost control and production targets.
19. Communicates and implements change as directed.
20. Provides leadership by establishing clear expectations and demonstrating high standards of work practices and safety conscious behavior.
21. Administration duties as required to ensure daily KPI performance is achieved.
22. Continuously monitors the performance and activities of the warehouse through the use of KPI’s, with a primary focus on cost controls.
Process
23. Plans, manages and adjusts the daily workload and staffing to minimize the unplanned overtime.
24. Maximizes quality and productivity by understanding job standards for each function, and evaluating performance variances in order to identify root cause and corrective action.
25. Participates in the completion of workshop action plans, projects and best practices sharing /implementation.
26. Collaborate with other sites to share in safety, processes and best practices initiatives.
27. Administration duties as required to ensure daily KPI performance is achieved.
Knowledge and Skills
28. Post-Secondary education preferred
29. Ability to work flexible hours, multiple shifts required for coverage
30. 5 – 10 years’ experience in Logistics, 3-5 years in a supervisory role
31. Ability to excel working in an extremely fast paced environment
32. Intermediate Continuous Improvement Methodology knowledge
33. Demonstrated strong leadership, influencing and interpersonal skills
34. Process management and labour planning
35. Excellent communication/presentation skills and high integrity
36. A high degree of initiative and the ability to work in a team environment are essential
37. Effective planning and decision making ability
38. Excellent knowledge of overall warehousing processes
39. Strong computer skills
