Jem Computer Systems is a well-established IT service provider based in Cupar, Fife. We specialise in computer sales, maintenance, and support services for both businesses and private clients across the region. As part of the business community at Cupar Trading Estate, we have solid facilities and strong links with local businesses, schools, and organisations. Overview: An exciting opportunity for someone keen to learn, grow and gain hands-on experience in a fully equipped IT workshop. You will work alongside experienced engineers and be involved in many aspects of hardware, software, and customer support. Responsibilities: Computer assembly and setup Software installation and configuration Upgrades, repairs and virus / malware removal Troubleshooting and diagnostics Data recovery, transfer and backup solutions Case management and customer support What we’re looking for: A strong interest in IT hardware and software, willing to learn from the ground up A logical, methodical approach to diagnosing and solving problems Good communication skills; able to explain technical issues in ways non-technical users can understand Reliable, organised, with attention to detail A positive attitude, willing to take initiative and ask questions Able to drive ( essential ) Salary: £17,000 per annum Working hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm What you’ll get - company benefits: Structured apprenticeship training: Guided learning with skilled mentors; combination of on-the-job experience and theoretical training Formal qualification: Opportunity to gain recognised IT / engineering qualification Hands-on experience: Exposure to a wide variety of hardware, software, and customer types—business and home users Supportive team environment: Work with experienced technicians, ongoing coaching and feedback Career progression: Potential to move into a junior or technician role once apprenticeship is successfully completed Employee discount: On computer hardware, peripherals, and services offered by Jem Computer Systems Tools and equipment provided: Access to workshop tools, diagnostic software, test hardware Contributory pension, holiday entitlement: As per statutory requirements, plus any additional company provisions Modern workshop facilities: Well-equipped workspace at Cupar Business Centre; good transport links If you are enthusiastic, driven, and looking to build a solid foundation in IT, we’d love to hear from you! Starting with insights into your current potential, they plan your growth in a programmatic way, close skills gaps with immersive training and ensure what you learn is applicable to what you do. They talk you through the specifics on the qualifications you gain and how they align in particular to your day to day role.
