A building services engineering consultancy based in Bradford is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing design team. The business delivers mechanical, electrical, and sustainable design solutions across commercial, residential, education, and public sector projects, with a strong reputation for technical excellence and client-focused service.
The Role
This is a design-led position, responsible for producing high-quality technical drawings and specifications while contributing to project delivery and supporting junior team members. The role offers a clear progression pathway to Associate Director level within 18-24 months for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce detailed mechanical building services designs and technical drawings using AutoCAD
* Prepare calculations, specifications, and reports to support project delivery
* Collaborate with colleagues across mechanical and electrical disciplines to ensure integrated designs
* Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers within the team
* Ensure compliance with British Standards, industry regulations, and client requirements
* Attend project meetings, liaising with clients, contractors, and external consultants
* Support the implementation of sustainable and low-energy design solutions
* Contribute to quality assurance processes and continuous improvement initiatives
Key Requirements
* Proven experience in a mechanical design role within building services
* Proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit experience advantageous)
* Strong knowledge of HVAC, heating, and ventilation systems
* Good understanding of current building regulations and design standards
* Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively
* Strong communication and collaboration skills
* Ambition to take on leadership responsibilities and progress into a senior position
