Responsibilities

* Provide clerical and administrative support for the Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs) in Developing National Capability in Materials 4.0 and 2D Materials of Tomorrow, each at 0.5 FTE.
* Deliver excellent service and support colleagues with continuous improvement, placing the Postgraduate Researcher experience at the heart of what both CDTs do.
* Provide efficient, effective and professional support to these CDT programmes, representing the University courteously and professionally with Postgraduate Researchers (PGRs), the Institutes involved, as well as their academic and industrial partners.
* Be flexible in relation to location of work, working at different service delivery points as required and attending events in person to support their delivery. The post-holder will be notified well in advance of any off‑campus events, for which travel and accommodation expenses will be covered.
* Act as the first point of contact for PGRs and prospective applicants to either CDT, providing information and support on a broad range of issues, signposting and referring to specialist areas as required.
* Assist the teams in managing information, updating relevant systems, and providing accurate data for reporting and to support local processes.
* Maintain up‑to‑date websites and social media presence for the CDTs.
* Support finance processes – requisitions, payments, and expense claims – and book travel and accommodation in accordance with financial regulations and procedures.
* Organise room bookings and catering as needed.
* Support meetings and committees, including setting agendas, minute‑taking and supporting follow‑up actions in a timely manner.
* Maintain accurate PGR records to ensure compliance and data quality.
* Act in accordance with and promote University policies, procedures and requirements – in particular those relating to Health & Safety, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion and Information Governance.
* Conduct other reasonable duties commensurate with the grade as directed by the CDT managers.
