Full-Time | September Start | Special Needs Hub | Long-Term Role
We are seeking a dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Gloucester, starting in September. This full-time role is based within the school’s special needs hub, supporting Year 1 and Year 2 students with autism, global delay, and speech and language difficulties.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in a nurturing school community that prioritises respect, compassion, and holistic development. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and support staff to create a safe, engaging learning environment and provide tailored support to meet each student’s individual needs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 support to students with autism and global developmental delay.
* Support students with communication and interaction challenges using effective strategies to encourage engagement and progress.
* Assist with personal care tasks as required, working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure dignity and comfort at all times.
* Implement individualised learning and development plans under the guidance of teaching staff.
* Support behaviour management and classroom routines to promote a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere.
* Adapt learning materials and activities to meet diverse needs.
* Work as part of a dedicated SEN team within the school’s special needs hub.
Requirements:
* Essential:
* Experience supporting children with special educational needs (SEN)
* Autism experience
* Desirable:
* Experience supporting speech, language, and communication needs
* Comfortable with personal care tasks
* Previous primary school experience
