UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL CROSSHOUSE
The expansion of the existing Consultant team will provide an exciting opportunity to be involved in shaping the future of the service as part of a service redesign programme spanning both acute and primary/community care.
Situated on the beautiful Clyde Coast, Ayrshire & Arran is great place to live and work. There are a wealth of beaches, golf courses, bustling market towns, and stunning country and coastal scenery to explore, yet University Hospital Crosshouse is still within 35 minutes by car from the centre of Glasgow.
The successful candidates will be based at University Hospital Crosshouse, Kilmarnock, and will assist in delivering out-patient specialist services at University Hospital Ayr on a rotational basis with colleagues.
The post-holders can expect to see a wide and unfiltered range of clinical presentations. The service functions as an integrated team and all members contribute towards the provision of out-patient and in-patient care. The duties of the posts are purposefully biased towards the provision of specialist out-patient activity in Endocrinology & Diabetes. The posts also include an ongoing rotational commitment to the supervision of an 8-bedded in-patient Diabetes & Endocrinology Acute Assessment area, receiving duties in the Combined Assessment Unit and participation in the out of hours general medical on-call rota (1:7 weekends and 1:21 nights). Dynamic investigations and other day case activities are supported by the Medical Day Unit.
The terms and conditions of service are those determined by the New Consultant Contract (Scotland) 2004. The posts are offered on a 10 programmed activity basis initially (including 2 SPAs), but opportunities may exist for Extra Programmed Activities to be undertaken subject to service requirements and in accordance with national terms and conditions of service. Applications from individuals who may wish to work on a part-time, or job share basis will be considered.
NHS Ayrshire and Arran have built a new and supportive development programme for new consultants which provides additional management training to those in their first Consultant post.
Accredited in Diabetes and Endocrinology, you will have the necessary training and expertise to provide a range expertise for patients in Ayrshire to meet the needs of these new roles. Candidates must be fully registered with a Licence to Practice and must be on the Specialist Register, or be within 6 months of the anticipated award of a CCT or CESR at the time of interview.
