The Role:
Field Activities
1. Form an integral element of the Leakage Services Team
2. Investigate and resolve high District Metered Area (DMA) night flows through the utilisation of advanced leak detection and water audit skills
3. Undertake leakage detection and location activity using acoustic sounding and correlation techniques, including the use of advanced correlating acoustic loggers
4. Undertake acoustic logger surveys, including data analysis, and follow-up leakage detection to resolve DMA leakage
5. Undertake complex step test activity including the design, planning and valve operations to quantify and localise areas of demand and/or leakage
6. Undertake pressure zero activity including the design, planning and valve operations to prove DMA integrity
7. Undertake DMA boundary valve checks and contribute to the effective management/maintenance of DMAs
8. Undertake pressure-logging operations including setup, installation, retrieval, download and data analysis
9. Assess Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) performance and take action where appropriate
10. Undertake flow logging operations including set up, installation, retrieval, download and data analysis
11. Undertake accuracy checks on flow meters and logging equipment through survey and flow tests
12. Undertake noise logging activities and data analysis
13. Identify potential and confirm actual night usage by customers
14. Liaison with Mobile Work Management Work Controllers to ensure effective use of own resource
15. Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental Management System (EMS) and quality requirements
16. Be a point of contact as appropriate when Band 5 Field Manager is absent
17. Undertake Leakage Technician duties in other Field Manager areas as per business requirements
18. Participate in night as well as day working duties as required by the role and the need to achieve business objectives
Customer Activities
19. Undertake complex customer side leakage investigation and determine follow-on action to be taken
20. Liaison with customers in relation to both complex leakage and pressure activities
21. Inform customers of actions to be taken
22. Collect all relevant information in relation to customers to allow leakage notice procedure or other relevant procedure to be applied 11
Business Activities
23. Address issues from the plan/do/review process to enhance functional compliance and performance
24. Ensure that key processes are uniformly followed, maintained and improved, where appropriate, through strategic plan/do/review activities
25. Assist in business improvement across all areas of responsibility particularly those that affect delivery of Key Performance Indicators (KPI's)
26. Assist with the adjustment of functional rules to meet operational needs (in line with area and field manager targets)
27. Promote opportunities to improve general working practices
28. Understand the importance of budget management and comply with financial guidance given by the Field Manager, including the need to make efficiencies
29. Comply with the setting of performance objectives and development plans
30. Liaise and collaborate across business functions and with external contractors / external stakeholders as required
Essential Criteria:
31. Two years' experience in a Leakage Detection or Networks Water environment
32. Excellent understanding of detection techniques, District Metered Area (DMA) maintenance & management
33. Competent in the use of leakage detection equipment
34. An excellent understanding of networks distribution systems
35. Experience in the use in the use of computer and IT equipment.
36. Potential employees must have a permanent residence within 25 miles travelling distance by public road to Moys SR Glenhead Road, Limavady, BT49 9LR
Other Information:
37. A full, current driving licence or access to a form of transport to enable the candidate to fulfil their responsibilities
38. A requirement to participate in an out of hour's on-call rota as well as a requirement to work overtime; including weekends and public and privilege holiday
39. Medically fit to undertake relevant training working in confined spaces. (Please note that due to Health & Safety regulations there is a maximum weight limit of 120kgs for confined space work, excluding equipment)
